Founded in 2022 by Dr. Majid Khan Majahar Ali, is a pioneer in the field of seaweed cultivation and high-tech drying methods. With the support of prestigious Malaysian government funding grants, we have dedicated ourselves to researching and developing specialized products based on seaweed. Our research findings have uncovered numerous benefits, ranging from health and nutrition to sustainable farming practices. The Journey //

My journey in seaweed industry together with the hurdles of local community in Semporna, Sabah during 2012-2017 has been memorabilia and impossible to forget. Their hurdles to get a good price for their cultivated and harvested seaweed due to very limited number of carrageenan producer (only Tacara Sdn. Bhd. and Omnigel Sdn. Bhd.) in Semporna makes the price always fluctuates. Around 80% of my studies life during my PhD (2012 – 2017 (Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS)) makes me to stay in the middle of Selakan Island and being responsible to model, simulate and optimize of parameter, calculate the ROI and benefit analysis of commercialize seaweed drier of 5 tonne capacity. While focusing on the PhD works, I also learned and understand rheological properties of seaweed cultivation, seaweed pre- and postharvest, extraction of carrageenan from dried seaweed, life cycle analysis (LCA) of complete seaweed supply chain, and farmer empowerment in this industry.

One of the breakthroughs during my PhD was that the post-harvest is very crucial in preserving the nutrients before extraction of carrageenan which manage me to applied for patent in 2021 (filed and waiting for granted). From the various potentials benefits of using seaweed that have been conducted for our local seaweed results containing high macro and microminerals, anti-inflammatory, insoluble fibre, very low fat, natural binder and anti-bacterial properties which make me stumble and restructuring some actions in upgrade the new direction to sustainability of this market and open while creating a new market from the high value-end products from patented drier (seaweed powder).

It all started when I stumbled upon an article about the potential benefits of using seaweed as an alternative to traditional toothpaste ingredients. Intrigued by the idea, I set out on a journey to research, experiment, and eventually develop my own seaweed-based toothpaste (research together with Darul Aman Manufacturing from 2020 to 2024). The first step in my journey was extensive research into the properties of seaweed and its potential uses in oral care products. I discovered that seaweed is rich in minerals and nutrients that are beneficial for dental health, such as calcium, magnesium, and iodine. It also has natural antibacterial and antifungal, enamel care and whitening properties, making it an ideal ingredient for toothpaste. Armed with this knowledge, My team (Prof. Wan Rosli Wan Ishak (Nutrition Expert from USM) and Me) began experimenting with different seaweed species and extraction methods to determine the best way to incorporate it into a toothpaste formula. We spent countless hours in the lab, testing various combinations and concentrations until I found the perfect balance of seaweed extract, and other natural ingredients. After numerous trials and errors (using response methodology), we finally developed a seaweed-based toothpaste that not only effectively cleans and protects the teeth but also leaves a refreshing and natural taste. We were thrilled with the results and knew that we had stumbled upon something truly innovative.

The next step in my journey was to conduct thorough testing and clinical trials to ensure the safety and effectiveness of my seaweed-based toothpaste (we managed to get NPRA notifications approvals, HALAL approvals and Lab Testing Results). We collaborated with dental professionals and researchers to gather data and feedback, which further solidified the potential of our product. With the positive results from the testing phase, We began exploring options for manufacturing and distribution. I sought out sustainable and ethical partners (Ezy Bizy) to help bring my seaweed-based toothpaste to the market, ensuring that it would be accessible to as many people as possible. As I reflect on my journey to producing toothpaste from seaweed, I am proud of the hard work and dedication for the last 10 years that went into creating a product that promotes oral health and sustainability. I am excited to see my once conceptual idea come to life and make a positive impact on the dental care industry.

In conclusion, my journey to producing toothpaste from seaweed has been a challenging yet rewarding experience. Through extensive research, experimentation, and collaboration, I have developed a unique and innovative product that I am passionate about.
